Deborah Lanphear, born and raised in San Jose, CA, started drawing at a very young age. Wanting to nurture her talent, Deborah was placed into private art classes at age 7.  Through out her years of schooling, she continued in her art classes winning awards and scholarships for her work.  Since she graduated from art school in 1993, Deborah has experimented with many different mediums. Through this experimentation, she has found working with colored pencils to be her favorite medium for expression.

While she is open to drawing many subjects, Deborah has found a passion in drawing wildlife with a special focus on endangered species.  Her goal with every picture that she draws is to bring to life the beauty of her subject.

Deborah’s work is featured in the homes and offices of her family and friends.  Her greatest project is the calendar she produces yearly to showcase her work.  Initially the project was for 55 selected family and friends, but has now grown to over 500 calendars produced last year.

Still living in San Jose with her husband, Deborah had joined the CPSA - District 210 in April 2006 and is currently creating her latest colored pencil piece.  She is also looking forward to showing her work at local events very soon.
