Carole Dwinell of Martinez has been interested in art since childhood and except for a great high school art program, has little formal training. She loves to draw, also writes, throws pots (not AT anyone), makes jewelry, paints, sculpts and has just poured her first bronze. She loves beads, gourds, and making beautiful things; loves poetry, especially writing it and just published her first chapbook. Color pencil used to be just of passing interest until Bill Yokoyama of Walnut Creek Civic Arts introduced her to the idea of using the three primary colors and getting everything else through layering. It’s an amazing challenge.

Carole was born in Seattle, Washington, has three grown children and five grandchildren (three of them triplets). She has done lots of fun, crazy things like racing bicycles, being a graphic designer/illustrator for more than 30 years, training horses and riders in Hunter Jumper, Dressage and Horse Trials at Black Point Farm, a small riding academy she owns. She also coached a nationally rated vaulting team (that’s gymnastics on horseback). It’s all due to a diagnosed case of ADD and a very short attention span except when one’s hyper-focused.
